Canada’s most acclaimed Inuit artist, Kenojuak’s work is seen in museums and private collections throughout the world • In 1961 the National Film Board produced a film about her traditional life and art, which helped introduce Kenojuak to the world outside Cape Dorset, Nunavut.

Among her achievements and accomplishments she became an Officer of the Order of Canada (1967), was promoted to Companion (1982), was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, received Honorary Degrees from both Queen’s University and the University of Toronto • Kenojuak was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards (1995). In 2008, Kenojuak received the Governor General’s Award for excellence in the visual arts.

Architect and founder of Moriyama & Teshima, Raymond Moriyama has achieved much since he was interned during WWII because of his Japanese descent • His extraordinary architectural vision resulted in the Ontario Science Centre, Science North, Scarborough Civic Centre, Toronto Reference Library, Bata Shoe Museum, and the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo. The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, which many believe to be the culmination of Raymond’s architectural achievements, earned him the Governor General’s Medal for Architecture (2008). Born in Vancouver, Raymond received his B.Arch. from University of Toronto (1954) and M.Arch. from McGill University (1957) • In 2001, he was elected unanimously as the Chancellor of Brock University, the first architect in Canada to receive such an honour.
